AN IDEAL MUSEUM
Outstanding guests join the Novecento Collections from Futurism to Contemporary art
During the Expo Milano 2015, the Museo del Novecento becomes An Ideal Museum via an artistic journey that meanders through the exhibits of Outstanding Guests, who testify the innovative and creative features of Italian art from Futurism to Contemporary Art.
Italian art is on display with major works at the Museo del Novecento through the “An Ideal Museum. Outstanding Guests Join the Novecento Collections from Futurism to Contemporary Art” exhibition, promoted within the framework of art rendezvous of the Expo programme on schedule in Milan during the semester of the Expo Milano 2015.
During the Expo Milano 2015, the Museo del Novecento becomes An Ideal Museum via an artistic journey that meanders through the exhibits of Outstanding Guests, who testify the innovative and creative features of Italian art from Futurism to Contemporary Art. An exhibition that stems from a simple yet innovative idea: to enrich each hall of the permanent exhibition with a series of major art works, accurately selected together with the directors of principal Italian museums - the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna of Rome, the Galleria d’Arte Moderna of Turin, Mart of Rovereto, Cà Pesaro in Venice, Museo Morandi of Bologna, Museo Revoltella of Trieste, and the Galleria d’Arte Moderna of Palermo - giving life to an Ideal Museum.
Concurrently, a selection of contemporary artworks recently donated by ACACIA (Friends of Italian Contemporary Art Association) will counterpoint the existing twentieth century collections, triggering a dialogue between past and present.
The exhibition, curated by the Museum’s Scientific Committee, introduces ‘Outstanding Guests’ in a setup conceived by Architect Paolo Giacomazzi, where masterpieces from the 20th century occupy key points of the museum, almost engaged in a conversation with contemporary art through a series of unexpected settings.
